Report from Regus: Companies Forecast Jobs Growth

Up to 76 % of the companies are planning on either hiring more workers or maintaining the number of the staff in 2013. The study was based on the views of over 26 000 companies in 90 countries.

According to the latest Regus Business Confidence index, companies will hire more personnel in 2013.

Up to 76 % of the companies are planning on either hiring more workers or maintaining the number of the staff in 2013. The study was based on the views of over 26 000 companies in 90 countries and the results show clearly that the recruitment drive among finnish firms will focus on sales and marketing staff. In Finland the index has raised since October 2012 and this positive development keeps on going.

The main results:

• The global Regus Business Confidence index is 114 points, meaning a rise of 3 points compared to October 2012.

• Finland has 111 points, 13 more that six months ago.

• 43 % of finnish companies said that their sales had increased and 35 % said that the business profit had increased during the last 12 months.

• One fifth (21 %) of the companies is planning on increasing the amount of employees with 5 %.

• 54 % are waiting for companies to hire more sales and marketing staff and 52 % think that other type of staff will be hired.

The representative of Regus - the world's largest provider of flexible workplaces, Juha Hakala, states: "The results are not only a sign of companies hiring more employees. Companies are focusing on sales and marketing and think that it is time to start to sell."

"The results are indicating that in the near future will be good times for professionals in sales and marketing. Firms will have to hire more workers and maintain the best resources to be able to maintain the competitiveness in the market."

Flexible working is getting more and more important now that the companies are aiming at getting the best professionals and keeping them happy. Younger employees take a different stand on their work, preferring flexibility and quality of life over traditional values. Thanks to flexibility, companies can decrease the expenses of permanent working spaces and increase of the productiveness of the personnel.[1]

The Results

• Globally 85 % of the companies are planning on hiring more staff or maintaining the present situation in 2013. One fourth of the companies are planning on increasing the amount of employees with more than 5 %.

• Large amount of the companies (57 %) are planning on extending their sales and marketing section. The companies foresee that there will be a need of hiring personnel in other sections as well (40 %).

• Small companies, the motor of the recovery in economy, will probably hire more personnel (28 %).

• Business Confidence index has raised 3 points since October 2012.

• Export companies will be more succesfull than the ones operating in home market.
