Remington College Marks 25th Anniversary by Giving Back to its Campus Communities
Remington College to celebrate its silver anniversary by awarding scholarships, hosting blood drives and participating in a variety of charitable programs throughout 2010
Online, January 7, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Heathrow, Fla. - (January 7, 2010) - Remington College will mark its 25th anniversary in 2010 with a number of community-focused initiatives.
Based in Heathrow, Florida, Remington College offers diploma and degree programs at 20 campuses throughout the United States, including a new online campus. Its mission is to provide career-focused education through a variety of programs, including nursing, cosmetology, business office management and criminal justice.
The 2010 initiatives will be part of "Remington College Reaches Out," an effort that includes philanthropy, community involvement and events designed to benefit all the communities where Remington College has a physical campus.
The 2010 initiatives include:
Silver Scholars: Remington College will celebrate its 25th anniversary with its "Silver Scholars" program. Twenty-five scholarships worth $10,000 each will be given out to new Remington College students. The scholarships will help cover tuition, books and fees for the program of the recipient's choosing. Remington College will work with community groups to promote and choose at least one scholarship recipient for each Remington College campus.
3 Lives Blood Drives: Remington College is partnering with America's Blood Centers and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America for a series of blood drives. Each Remington College campus will hold three blood drives in 2010, with an emphasis on recruiting minority donors.
Cuts for Kids: Remington College campuses with a Cosmetology program will offer complimentary back-to-school haircuts for kids and discounted services for adults. Last year the Cuts for Kids program provided nearly 2,000 children with complimentary haircuts.
Adopt Our School: The Adopt Our School program is to benefit local school and students. The community will be encouraged to nominate and vote on schools in their community. At the end of the voting period a winner will be announced. The winning school in each Remington College location will receive a donation from Remington College. This program will be held twice a year.
Bone Marrow Drives: Each Remington College campus will hold a bone marrow drive in July to benefit local bone marrow centers.
Job Fairs: Remington College campuses regularly hold job fairs to help connect employers with job-seekers in the community.
Prom Night Makeovers: Remington College Cosmetology students will provide complimentary hair-styling, manicures and pedicures to make sure high school students look their best on Prom Night.
Holiday Drives: Each Remington College campus participates in a holiday drive to collects toys, coats and gifts for a local charity.
