New Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Practice Opens in Delmont
Delmont, PA (September, 2010) - To better serve those in need of orthopedic and sports injury treatment in Western Pennsylvania, Reflex Orthopedics & Sports Medicine recently opened its doors for local patients.
Located in Delmont, Reflex was founded by Douglas Hampers, M.D. Dr. Hampers became frustrated with the policies imposed by larger health care organizations, which he believed hindered the quality of health care patients received. As an orthopedic surgeon with a private practice, Dr. Hampers does not need to contend with the bureaucratic limitations of a large organization. With this in mind, Dr. Hampers and the Reflex staff plan on providing the more individualized care and attention patients deserve.
"Sometimes with the larger health care organizations, you have little or no control over who assists you with your patients or how long you have to spend with each individual," Dr. Hampers said. "As a private practice, I can spend as much time with each patient as needed. My goal is to make the patient experience as positive and informative as possible."
Located at the new Delmont Surgery Center, Reflex Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and technology in order to improve the quality of patient care.
"Having the surgery center allows us to have greater control over our operating environment," Dr. Hampers expressed. "In larger health care facilities, you have multiple surgeons and staff members trying to gain access to key pieces of medical equipment. In a lot of cases, this makes it more challenging for the surgeons. Sometimes you don't have what you need for your patients, and when it comes to surgery, you want to ensure you have everything you need readily available."
Dr. Hampers specializes in all types of sports injuries, including all types or arthroscopic procedures; partial knee, hip and shoulder replacements; all types of total knee, hip and shoulder replacements; carpal tunnel release; and all fractures.
Dr. Hampers completed his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College and later received his Doctorate in Medicine from the Dartmouth Medical School. He trained with Freddie H. Fu, M.D., at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and continued on at UPMC to complete his Sports Medicine Fellowship. In more than six years of professional experience, Dr. Hampers has practiced in Butler Pa., and Virginia before founding Reflex.
