RavenWindow Patent Granted : U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Allows Dynamic Window Patent

Denver-based clean tech company, Ravenbrick, has been awarded a patent for a "smart window" that utilizes a thermochromic film that is transparent when cold and transitions to a tinted state when heated.

Denver-based RavenBrick(www.ravenbrick.com ) announced the allowance today of a "smart window" patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, for a "thermochromic" film that can be added to glass. The smart film is transparent when cold, but transitions to
a tinted state when heated. This marks the company's third U.S. patent in the smart window space.

"All of our core IP has now been granted," said Wil McCarthy, co-inventor and CTO of RavenBrick. "We now have industry leading versatility to offer countless variations of dynamic window technology. There are more than a dozen additional patents still pending review, but these three provide about 90% of the coverage for our RavenWindow product suite," McCarthy added. International approvals have also been received from the World Intellectual Property Organization, along with national ones in Canada, China, and Australia. Patents are also being sought in several additional regions, and the company is optimistic about its prospects. "This is a worldwide market," McCarthy observed. "We need -- and have successfully received -- strong, global
protection of our intellectual property."

RavenBrick's windows have been installed in several government buildings and mass production of the product is
expected in 2012.
