Similarly, he has imposed a limit on the number of meetings each group at PSG Management can have in a week. Of course, policy alone does not make up culture.

“I’ve also focused my communication and goal setting on teamwork,” Vic continued. “For example, if a team is riding on the shoulders of one individual, I will express my disappointment even if they have good results. Similarly, I encourage people to come to me with ideas, even on their first days. I also evaluate people primarily based on their abilities to work with each other.”

According to Vic it is also really important to focus his hiring efforts on supporting this culture. He asserted that a single bad seed in the group can greatly damage the collaborative environment.

According to Vic, PSG Management has gained a lot due to these team building efforts. He indicated that when associates have a strong sense of trust and respect for one another, they are much better at learning together. This leads to better outcomes from their work.
