Project CREED, a social enterprise providing locally-inspired health education materials to children in developing countries, will officially launch Monday, January 30, 2012 on its website www.projectcreed.org. CREED, which stands for Children's Roots of Enduring Educational Development, embodies Project CREED's philosophy of create a lasting cycle of opportunity for communities so that they have essential educational tools to lead healthy lives.

Originally developed by Co-Founder and Executive Director Dani Siems while conducting research in Rwanda, Project CREED was designed to develop community-directed health education children's books for underdeveloped regions to improve health outcomes. Unlike other global health organizations, Project CREED engages cooperatively with communities and partners in order to create innovative, educationally-appropriate and culturally-respectful children's books.

Project CREED's books are purchased, utilized and distributed by nongovernmental, public and private organizations working in the field directly with communities to improve public health knowledge and outcomes. In addition, the books are sold on Project CREED's website in its "Buy a Book, Give a Book" program. When someone purchases a book, a digital copy will be sent to them, while a printed hardcopy of the book sent to its target community.

The books combine lessons on sanitation, hygiene and public health with local storytelling. Currently, Project CREED offers two books, Cleaning With Water is Easy. Cleaning Water is Hard. and Always Wash Your Hands. These books are currently being distributed in Rwanda, while Always Wash Your Hands is being translated into multiple languages for universal publication. Projects in El Savaldor, India and China are also under way, and books for these communities will become available soon this year.

"Our development creed involves equipping communities with the tools needed to improve their own lives," said Co-Founder and Director of Strategy Lisa Morgan Wallace. "Our upcoming launch is essential to publicizing the movement for universal public health knowledge and Project CREED's unique educational solution."

Project CREED's company launch will occur online at www.projectcreed.org and through social networks with a special video preview featuring the organization's leadership, project leaders, partners, and most importantly, people impacted by their work across the globe. Everyone is invited to view and share the video, as well as to participate in an online competition by creating and sharing their own video about a personal creed via YouTube and Facebook. All entries can be submitted online at www.facebook.com/ProjectCREED or by email to CREEDvideo@projectcreed.org.
