Arrr!! For the first time, Lake Square Mall is offering a very unique “family fun” private festival to offer the community and the estimated quarter of a million visitors who will be traveling to Lake County Florida for the 2019 Leesburg Bikefest. On April 25, 26 and 27, the Lake Square Mall, located at 10401 US Hwy 441 in Leesburg, FL, is being transformed into “Square Island” with a wide variety of live music, including Florida’s premier pirate band – Rusty Cutlass, a life-sized Pirate Ship from Panama Pearl’s Pirate World, 2019 Gasparilla Pirate King Jason Smith (aka Captain Jack), Mermaids Are For Real, a kid zone, food trucks, unique vendors, and more.

Decorations for the pirate events are by Joshua Blake, a former Disney performer. He also directed the Polar Express event with the Royal Palm Railroad. “I used to study all the floats when I was backstage at Disney and do a lot of YouTube watching on how to create and it’s just been a passion of mine to create things with my hands,” Blake said.

Admission to the Pirates At The Square 3-day event is free, however, donations will be accepted to support Leesburg Regional Medical Center Foundation’s (LRMC) campaign to prevent the number one cause of child abuse in the United States Joa Harpster, special events coordinator for the LRMC Foundation says, “We are so proud to be pairing with the Lake Square Mall for the 1st Annual Pirates At The Square. This is an event for a great cause we are raising funds for education and awareness for Shaken Baby Syndrome. It’s a very important topic-1200 babies are born each year at Leesburg Regional Medical Center and we want to be sure all these babies are kept healthy and safe!”

Lake Square Mall’s marketing director Anna Marie Chwastiak says, “The mall is proud to offer a family friendly destination during BikeFest. We wanted to offer a different experience for the public coming out this week to simply enjoy Pirates At the Square or for the folks parking at the mall to utilize the LakeExpress Shuttle service to BikeFest in downtown historic Leesburg. Out of all the other local events taking place this weekend in Lake County, the one element the mall has to offer that no one else can is 560,000 square foot space of air conditioning!” The Pirates at the Square event is an inside and outside venue. Anna Marie Chwastiak also says she hopes the visitors to our Pirate Festival will take the time to explore what the mall has to offer when it comes to fashion and family fun.

For the interests of all ages, there will be a mix of activities from Pirate School, Swashbucklers Chalk Art Challenge, Scavenger Hunt, Mermaid Experience, Pirate Karaoke, and daily prizes will be given away for costume and Captain Jack look-alike contests.

Parking is free. A shuttle bus to Leesburg BikeFest runs every thirty minutes from the Lake Square Mall’s Food Court entrance. For more Pirates at The Square Event information, log onto LakeSquareMall.com.

Lake Square Mall continues to prove “it’s hip to be at the Square.” Recently, five international designer stores selected Lake Square Mall to be their first United States location and a fully immersive Virtual Reality experience just opened. Next month, the temperatures are going to drop in Lake County, FL when the brand-new ice-skating experience Winterland officially opens to the public.
