Pine View Band Boosters Honors Director of Bands at 3rd Annual ENCORE Dinner

Sarasota, FL, April 5, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Each year, the Pine View Band Boosters host a gala to bring together band families, supporters and friends. At the annual event which falls on April 28 this year, attendees and sponsors honor people who have had a significant impact on the Pine View Band program and raise money for the Pine View Band Music program. This year's honoree is Mr. Victor Mongillo, Director of Bands.

Since Mongillo arrived at Pine View 7 years ago, the Band Program has been on an upwards trajectory of excellence and achievement. About 200 Pine View students enroll in band classes each year, which is roughly 10 percent of the entire Pine View student body. Students start band classes in Grade 7 and then progress in successive years to 8th Grade band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble and the Jazz band.
The Band Boosters is made up of volunteer band parents and arts program advocates who organize fundraising and awareness events to support the Pine View Band program. With support from Band Boosters, Mr. Mongillo can bring in professional musicians to offer small group instruction and coaching to students.
In March, the 20-piece Pine View Jazz Band was the featured opening act for the week-long Sarasota Jazz festival. This award-winning ensemble will also be hosting a free Jazz Under the Stars event on the evening of April 8th on Pine View’s campus. The event is free and open to the public.
