Photographer Doug Menuez's "Fearless Genius" Exhibition To Debut At Moscow Photobiennale On March 29
Online, March 16, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Award-winning photographer Doug Menuez spent 15 years documenting the rise of Silicon Valley, starting with Steve Jobs in 1985 and expanding his scope to the groundbreaking companies and iconoclasts of the dotcom boom. By the time he completed his project in 2000, he had produced more than a quarter of a million images. None of them have been exhibited-until now.
"Fearless Genius: The Digital Revolution in Silicon Valley 1985-2000" will make its debut at the Moscow Photobiennale on March 29. The exhibition will comprise 50 prints and will be on view through May 9 at the Central Exhibition Hall in Red Square as part of the biennial, which is being produced by the Multimedia Art Museum Moscow.
"The title 'Fearless Genius' refers to those I observed who had true intellectual genius, combined with a rare ability to fearlessly pursue the power of their ideas to fruition or failure, risking everything they had-their health, sanity, families, jobs-in the process," explains Menuez, who is also developing a documentary film and book based on "Fearless Genius."
On March 31, Menuez will present a lecture on his project at the Skolkovo technology institute in the heart of Moscow's Silicon Valley. "I want to foster a dialogue around what lessons can be learned from the era I documented," he says. "How can we inspire the next generation of engineers and inventors? Who will be the next Steve Jobs?"
