Phoenix Company Seeks Entrepreneurial Spirited Scholars

Applications for FSW Funding Scholarship

The FSW Funding Entrepreneurial Scholarship is seeking applicants for the 2016/2017 school year. Robyn Barrett, an Arizona State University alumna and founder of FSW Funding, launched the firm’s Entrepreneurial Scholarship program in 2009 to award and inspire students with an entrepreneurial spirit, and help alleviate some of their financial burden.

The scholarship, now in its seventh year will select one Arizona State University student as this year’s entrepreneurial scholar. The application is open to students in any area of discipline in undergraduate and graduate programs, beginning sophomore year and beyond. Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student at ASU Tempe, West, Polytechnic, or downtown Phoenix campuses and possess a minimum GPA of 3.0.

“Entrepreneurship isn’t limited to one area of academic interest, it is more about an individuals’ drive to create something of their own,” explained Barrett. “We established this scholarship to inspire students to pursue their passions and help them reach their goals.”

The student selected will receive $2,000 paid directly to their school account for the 2016/2017 school year. The scholarship   can be utilized for tuition, books and living expenses. It is not necessary for students to display financial need or to be enrolled in a particular major to be an eligible candidate.

An application for the award requires that students submit a 500-word essay explaining how they embody the entrepreneurial spirit – and why such a characteristic is significant. They must also include a current resume, an unofficial transcript and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or employer. The deadline for application is June 1, 2016.

“We at FSW are thrilled to continue to provide young entrepreneurs with additional financial means that enable them to pursue their education as well as their entrepreneurial aspirations," added Barrett.

The Entrepreneurial Scholarship application can be accessed online at fswfunding.com or through the scholarship listings at scholarships.asu.edu.
