PetroHigh - OilSim In The Curriculum
Online, October 23, 2010 (Newswire.com) - High-schools and universities can now utilise OilSim as an integrated educational tool, in full-semester courses.
It has been a long standing ambition of Simprentis to expand the use of the learning simulation, OilSim, within schools and universities.
Up until now, within the educational sector OilSim has only been used in the ever more successful PetroChallenges, which last from two to three days. It is also used throughout many countries where teachers have applied OilSim as a context and case tool during project weeks.
The development of this new, innovative educational tool, PetroHigh, enables this concept is to be taken even further.
With PetroHigh, students and teachers use OilSim as the focal learning tool during a full-semester course, accompanied by supporting educational material. The ground breaking course has been approved by educational authorities in Houston, USA.
In addition to the learning simulation and the supporting material, Simprentis trains the teachers in using OilSim, so that they can master the powerful induction tool on their own.
PetroHigh has been developed together with teachers at Milby High School, Houston Independent School District (HISD), and Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), and is currently being run as an 18-week pilot at Milby High School.
With partners, Simprentis intends to expand the PetroHigh concept to include other US schools and academia in other countries around the world.
