Parklife DC Celebrates First Year With Focus on Concert Reviews

The site at ParklifeDC.com quickly received recognition from clubs and bands as a reliable source for concert reviews.

The arts and entertainment blog Parklife DC marked its first year anniversary recently, celebrating a solid year of talking about life in DC. The highlight of 2015 is in providing music concert previews and reviews for the premiere nightclubs and concert venues in DC.

Founders Mickey McCarter and Jeremy Bailey have been writing for Parklife DC since November 2014 at www dot parklifedc dot com, where they have highlighted a diverse mix of topics about living in the DC. They focused on concerts and festivals at popular venues like the 9:30 Club, Black Cat, DC9, U Street Music Hall, Howard Theatre, Lincoln Theatre, Hamilton Live!, and many other places around the city. The site’s reviews focus on nationally touring bands as well as local DC acts, painting a portrait of the music scene around town, and often along the famous U Street Corridor.

Parklife DC has become recognized as a consistent and reliable source for concert reviews, particularly among our best-known nightclubs.

“We’ve worked hard to take a journalist approach to concert reviews in the city,” said Mr. McCarter. “As such, Parklife DC has become recognized as a consistent and reliable source for concert reviews, particularly among our best-known nightclubs. We also consider it part of our mission to capture the color that bands and DC audiences bring to our concert halls, and we look forward to being a part of the mix in the year ahead.”

Parklife DC also strives to talk about sports, food, drink—especially beer—and the entire experience of life in DC, with an emphasis on nightlife.” said Mr. Bailey. “So we will continue to cover food and drink and related topics as well.”

McCarter and Bailey point to the rise of DC microbreweries in recent times, for example, as going hand in hand with many of the exciting things happening in the city, including the rise of new neighborhoods as destinations with restaurants offering local beers. Parklife DC also has received recognition for its coverage of bar and restaurant openings as well as related activities around the city.
