"Family law actually came to me. When I was a new attorney, I was working in Provincetown, at the very tip of Cape Cod, primarily a resort and fishing community. I was running the satellite office for the firm, trying to discover my “niche,” when I volunteered with several organizations, including a local domestic violence shelter. While there, I met a lot of women and men—as well as some of the children—who had survived domestic violence and sexual assault. As my skills improved, I began handing court-appointed cases in the juvenile court as well as probate court on family law and child-related matters."

Today, Ms. Bankert focuses her practice on complex family and probate litigation. As an attorney who has spent countless hours helping her clients with their family law disputes, she understands the difficult emotions involved in these cases and manages each one with the utmost compassion. She continues to serve in various court-appointed roles including Guardian Ad Litem, Conciliator, and as a pro bono attorney through the Barnstable County Attorneys Representing Children program. For twelve years she served as the representative for the Barnstable County Juvenile Court First Justice as a member of the Child Fatality Review Team. With such a position of prominence, Ms. Bankert keeps her eye on prevailing trends within family and juvenile law. In particular, she is paying attention to the challenges associated with removal cases, revisions to the Massachusetts Child Support Guidelines, and implementation of the revised alimony statutes.
