OnPoint Community Credit Union Names Hillsboro High School's Don Domes as 2011 Educator of the Year

Domes selected from ten Circle of Excellence finalists; will have mortgage paid for one year

OnPoint Community Credit Union announced Tuesday, National Teachers' Day, that Don Domes of Hillsboro High School was named its 2011 Educator of the Year during a surprise visit to the high school. As the Educator of the Year recipient, OnPoint Community Credit Union will pay Domes' mortgage for one year and donate $5,000 to Hillsboro High School to use for resources and supplies. Domes, a technology education teacher, was recognized for his work promoting the fields of technology, engineering, architecture and design.

The annual OnPoint Prize for Excellence in Education recognizes exceptional teachers throughout Oregon and southwest Washington for their ability to encourage creativity, inspire and positively impact their students. Nearly 150 teachers were nominated by their peers, students, parents and communities for this year's OnPoint Prize. A Community Choice winner, three finalists and five semifinalists were also awarded prizes.

Educator of the Year:

9th - 12th Technology Education

o Domes will receive his mortgage paid for one year by OnPoint Community Credit Union, plus $5,000 for his school to be used for resources and supplies.

Community Choice Winner:
Molly Weiby

o Weiby will receive $1,500, plus $1,500 for her school to be used for resources and supplies.

o Semifinalists will receive $250 to be used for classroom resources and supplies.
