Only Two More Weeks of Themed Weekends at the Ren Fest

More than just a festival

With only two weeks left before closing, themed weekends allow locals and travelers alike to drift back into the 16th Century Village of Albright. Romance Weekend and the final fireworks will mark the end of the six-week celebration at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival.

A weekend full of romance, on Dec. 2 and 3, Renaissance Festival is celebrating love by giving away toy roses to the first 200 couples who are dressed to match. Couples who arrive in matching “garb” will be honoring the Renaissance tradition of “Honey Garb” and will have the opportunity to participate in the costume contest at 3 p.m. on the Queen Stage. Judges will be looking for honey garb attire and the spirit of love.

Of course, every day of Renaissance Festival includes turkey legs, homemade treats, beer and beverage tastings.

The last weekend, Dec. 9 and 10, includes a massive fireworks show, rivaling any surrounding celebration in the skies. The show marks the end of the six-week Renaissance Festival and will send visitors officially into the Christmas season. Fireworks will begin at 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Don’t forget costumes this weekend as well because the 3 p.m. daily costume contest is still in full swing.

“Of course, every day of Renaissance Festival includes turkey legs, homemade treats, beer and beverage tastings,” says Alvin Brumfield, an owner and operator of the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. Over 50 daily shows covering activities from juggling to jousting will continue to wow crowds as they have for the past four weeks. Interactive opportunities will keep visitors busy all day, and more than 100 booths of unique and authentic handmade creations offer shopping for the holiday season. Demonstrations of coppersmithing, blacksmithing, glass blowing and milking goats are sure to continue fascinating passersby.

More than 600 artisans welcome guests daily beginning at 9:45 a.m. until dusk. The festival grounds are located at 46468 River Road in Hammond. For more information, visit larf.net.
