Online Career Advancement Updates New GED Skills Improvement Course

General Educational Development (GED) tests preparation programs must prepare for significant changes in the official GED tests and pending computer-based GED testing

Online Career Advancement's (OCA) efforts to respond to the American Council on Education (ACE) 2011 Series GED and computer-based testing program initiatives are being enhanced with updates to their new online GED Skills Improvement course.

OCA is expected to launch the new online GED Skills Improvement course in the summer of 2010, with registrations beginning immediately. The course will be offered at no cost directly through most of Online Career Advancement's websites; OCA partner resellers will charge a nominal fee for the course.

In announcing the new course, Online Career Advancement President and CEO, Leonard Cox said, "This is a major accomplishment which positions OCA to deliver a free high-quality online GED course that responds directly to significant changes in the way the GED will be offered in the near future. The GED tests are being revised by the American Council on Education (ACE) to address the need to provide more substantial academic preparation for the workplace and post-secondary education. Online Career Advancement program developers had delayed launching of the online GED Skills Improvement course pending more information from ACE. There are significant changes and enhancements to the 2011 Series GED Testing program; and computer-based GED testing will be offered in the United States for the first time.

The Online Career Advancement GED Skills Improvement course will combine various training scenarios for participants; including videos, interactive lessons and quizzes, peer communication features, and tracking of course progress via a state-of-the-art, private and secure learning management system. The course will be accessible at anytime from anywhere on any computer with an internet connection.

The GED Skills Improvement course in not designed for preparing participants to take the GED tests. Participants in the course will gain a strong understanding of the official GED and develop best practices for achieving the highest scores possible on the GED tests. The course will provide numerous supplemental resources and references that enhance the learning experience for participants.

Participants in Online Career Advancement's GED Skills Improvement course will have the opportunity to learn online the same way as college and university students. This is the primary purpose of our free GED course; the course will also help participants learn to excel on any standardized test and prepare for 21st century learning technologies." The GED Skills Improvement course will also provide knowledge and information about the 2011 Series GED.

Online Career Advancement plans to build capacity and accessibility for the online GED Skills Improvement course by offering adult education centers and other GED test preparation programs an opportunity to link to the course from their website to supplement existing GED training efforts. The online GED course is offered for free only through Online Career Advancement and links from websites of non-profit and government organizations.
