OneHockey Calling Best 10U Squads to New World Invitational
Syracuse's Oncenter to host annual showcase, starting in January 2021
LOS ANGELES, January 30, 2020 (Newswire.com) - OneHockey, the No. 1 recognized host of the most competitive and entertaining tournaments the sport has to offer, proudly announces another groundbreaking festival that is sure to become a must-attend annual event for the world’s best 9 and 10-year-old programs.
The Syracuse 10U World Invitational is designed to draw nationally ranked teams from across North America each year to central New York. The inaugural 10U World Invitational is scheduled for Jan. 26-31, 2021, with the historic 6,000-seat Upstate Medical University Arena at The Oncenter War Memorial, home of the American Hockey League’s Syracuse Crunch, serving as the main venue. This event is designed upon the same model as the prestigious Quebec Pee-Wee International Tournament, which has been flourishing for 60 years.
“Teams playing on that ice will never forget their experience,” says Sebastien Fortier, OneHockey founder and CEO. “Every team in the tournament will play at least one game at The Oncenter.”
Since its inception in 2003, OneHockey has rightfully earned the reputation for delivering hockey’s undisputed top tournament experience for players and fans alike. From its festive music and playful mascots streaming throughout each arena to its bustling lobby of vendors and popular red-carpet social media interviews, the OneHockey EXPERIENCE is unmatched in the sporting world. Throw in Player of the Game and MVP awards, capped off with its trademark championship ceremonies – complete with the OneHockey Cup raising and sparkling cider celebrations – it’s easy to see why OneHockey events like the Syracuse 10U World Invitational produce unequaled, as well as unforgettable, memories.
“The 2021 Syracuse 10U World Invitational will be an exciting inaugural tournament, and teams will go down in history for participating in its first year,” says Fortier, who is partnering with the nationally recognized Syracuse Nationals hockey program in an effort to organize volunteers and raise local interest in the event. “We will be accepting three teams at each of the 2010 Major and 2011 Minor AAA levels from across North America to headline this first one.”
“We’re reaching out to the top 10U programs around the world to commit to the first World Invitational,” Fortier says. “We already have commitments from some of the most prestigious youth programs in hockey, including Latvia, Russia, South Korea, and of course, North America.
Sponsored by Visit Syracuse, the city’s tourism promotional agency, the 10U World Invitational will also provide an opportunity for its players and families to attend a pair of home games of Syracuse Crunch, the AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Crunch players will also be made available during the week at the Upstate Medical University Arena and at The Oncenter War Memorial to interact with tournament players.
