On Sunday, March 27, Make Plans to 'walk4LIFE' - and Join a Growing Southern California Movement to Do Something Positive for Life!

Organized by SoCal Students and Parents, Uplifting Event Will Feature Spirited 2.5-Mile Walk Around Rose Bowl, Followed by Family-Oriented 'LIFEfest'

Spreading the uplifting message that "Life Is For Everyone!" high school and college students and parents from throughout Southern California have announced the 2011 "walk4LIFE," a fun, upbeat, high-energy community event that will take place March 27 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

A new non-profit group called LIFEsocal has partnered with the Right to Life League of Southern California to plan the pro-life family-friendly day.

"LIFEsocal was formed more than a year ago with the goal of standing up for LIFE from the moment of conception," said Carol Golbranson, one of the founders of LIFEsocal. "We have been inspired by the contributions of many pro-LIFE organizations and support the many different ways to be involved. We hope to educate and motivate teens and young adults to join the pro-life movement by doing something positive for LIFE. We look forward to walking shoulder to shoulder with thousands of fellow pro-LIFE Southern Californians: young and old, Catholics and non-Catholics, all races and generations."

walk4LIFE will feature what organizers are calling a "spirited" 2.5-mile walk around the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Archbishop Jose Gomez of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, will kick off the walk with an Opening Prayer and Remarks at 12:30. All sponsorship money raised by walkers will benefit Southern California pregnancy help centers and pro-life organizations.

The walk will be immediately followed by "LIFEfest," a family-oriented celebration featuring live music by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a Grammy-nominated, contemporary swing revival band, gourmet food trucks, KIDZONE and video entertainment. LIFEfest organizers have secured a number of inspiring pro-life speakers including Lila Rose, Carol Liebau, Walter Hoye, Jason Jones and Karyme Lozano.

In addition to working with the Right to Life League of Southern California, LIFEsocal has partnered with the Knights of Columbus, Radio Guadalupe 87.7 FM, Birth Choice Health Clinics, and Live Action, to name a few. To date, numerous parishes, churches and schools across Southern California are helping LIFEsocal promote the event by distributing fliers, forming walking teams, encouraging online registration and inviting their friends to join the fun. "The enthusiastic response to our plans at this early stage has been very exciting," Golbranson said. "We are welcoming help and participation from everyone who shares our pro-LIFE mission. We invite them to help us achieve our primary goal: to inform and motivate Southern Californians to believe in LIFE, stand up for LIFE, and do something positive for LIFE."
