Oktopost Launches First Data Center in Europe to Help Customers Comply With EU Regulations
TEL AVIV, Israel, November 10, 2021 (Newswire.com) - Oktopost, the only social media management and employee advocacy solution architected for B2B, has launched its first data center in the European Union. This key infrastructure investment will enable Oktopost customers with European data residency requirements to process and store their data in the EU.
In 2020, the Court of Justice of the European Union ruled that the EU-US Privacy Shield was no longer a valid mechanism to transfer personal data from Europe to the United States. As a result, many organizations in the EEA could no longer use this framework to demonstrate compliance with the GDPR, which caused additional administrative burdens and raised the risk of financial penalties.
As part of the company's commitment to helping customers maintain compliance with their local data sovereignty requirements, Oktopost decided to launch a regional data center in the EU. The new data center is located in Frankfurt, Germany, and is operated by Amazon Web Services (AWS).
"With a significant portion of our customer base located in Europe, we've always recognized the increasing concerns regarding data privacy and security in the region. Today, we're excited to provide our customers with even more flexibility and control over where their data is hosted, offering them the option to store and process it in the EU. The launch of our first European data center is a huge milestone for Oktopost, accelerating the growth of our footprint across Europe and allowing us to deliver best-in-class customer experience," said Daniel Kushner, Oktopost CEO.
New Oktopost customers will be able to choose to store and process all of their data in the company's EU data center. For existing customers, Oktopost is currently working on implementing an effective workflow for migrating their data to the EU data center in the near future.
