O'Connor, Parsons, Lane & Noble's Sober Ride Campaign Offering Free Rides for St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day Sober Ride

For those who are planning on drinking during St. Patrick's Day celebrations, the attorneys at O'Connor, Parsons, Lane & Noble (OPLN) want them to stay safe. To reduce the risk of drunk driving, OPLN is running a sober ride campaign in Springfield, NJ, and the surrounding area. By taking a one-way ride to a safe destination on St. Patrick's Day, OPLN will reimburse those for the cost of the taxi or rideshare.

New Jersey Accident Statistics

Drunk driving remains a serious problem in New Jersey. According to a 2019 fatal accident report compiled by the New Jersey State Police, there were 558 accident fatalities statewide, most of which were preventable. About 469 of these fatalities were tested for alcohol following the accident. In total, around 34.1% of drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and cyclists who were killed tested positive for alcohol. This equates to 28.5% of all accident fatalities in the state of New Jersey.

In the same report, the NJSP found that more than 38 fatalities occurred during a major holiday, accounting for almost 7% of all deaths. This means that drivers, passengers, and pedestrians are more likely to die in an accident on a holiday compared to any other day. While holiday fatalities have fallen by more than 25% since 2015, this is still a significant problem for New Jersey.
