NYCHA Residents Take the Stage for the 42nd Annual Talent Show Competition
Online, April 24, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The New York City Housing Authority will showcase the many talents of its residents during NYCHA's 42nd Annual Talent Show Competition on Saturday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at the Miccio Community Center in Red Hook East, Brooklyn.
For the past 42 years, NYCHA's Talent Shows have been delighting audiences and launching the careers of up-and-coming performers who reside in public housing. Auditions of over one hundred performers are held in each borough. The 14 acts selected to compete this year feature residents of all age categories, including Children, 6-12 years; Teens, 13-20 years; Adults, 21-54 years, and Seniors, 55 years and up. The show will also include performances by professional guest artists, previous Talent Show winners and the NYCHA Youth Chorus and NYCHA Senior Chorus, with a total participation of more than 100 NYCHA residents.
The performances will be judged by a professional panel of local artists including renowned DJ Bob Slade of 98.7 Kiss FM, Broadway veteran Dana Moore, comedian Jimique A. Straker ( AKA JP Justice ), and actress/singer Lisa Dennett. Winners will not only receive a trophy but a special prize related to their talent, such as dance classes or vocal lessons.
