Nxt Level Connects Leadership, Organizational Culture

At Nxt Level, leadership and morals are linked in the workplace. Along with their daily responsibilities, the management at Nxt Level recognizes and rewards conduct that is in line with the company's values.

"It is our leaders' jobs to define and spread the company's value system. The success of a business's culture depends on tools, strategies, and tactics that become part of everyday life," Linda, Nxt Level's director of operations, said.

However, she explained, many in the business world overlook organizational culture. Leaders say there isn't time to maintain company values. "We at Nxt Level believe that there needs to be a system in place that assures that associates' actions are in line with our company's intent," Linda said.

"When a company's culture succeeds, acceptable behavior will be routine. With that in place, it's unlikely that our leaders will need to explain why things went wrong."

Linda commented that leaders shouldn't view these principles as a hassle, but as part of what they stand for as an organization. Morals are a core element of the company's overall vision, and a tool that will help leaders achieve goals.

Nxt Level on How to Establish an Organizational Culture

The first step in building an organizational culture, according to Linda, is to draft a statement linked to the company's mission. Leaders should expand the mission statement to define what type of behaviors the company expects.

The executives at Nxt Level know that if they want others to own the company's value system, they have to act in a manner that shows they follow it as well. That’s why, in phase two, Linda encourages her leaders to develop a vocabulary, giving them a language to enforce the principles. To implement the policy, those in the top tier also need to act as role models. Leaders are always reminded to practice what they preach, and with culture, modeling behavior is particularly important.

Over time, Linda said, many forget about or ignore business morals. "Leaders need to remember that it is as important to prohibit behaviors that are out of line as it is to build the company's system," she said. “When a company's culture succeeds, acceptable behavior will be routine. With that in place, it’s unlikely that our leaders will need to explain why things went wrong.”
