Northern Lands Inspire Aava's Natural White Carafe

Nordic-inspired home goods company Aava has always made it very clear that their products are inspired by the minimalist bent on Scandinavian design.

This thread of simple beauty is evident throughout their new line of nine homeware pieces, and perhaps nowhere is this elegant characteristic more evident than in the company’s recently launched Natural White Carafe, a 50.7 oz. pitcher crafted from ceramic.

Aava features the natural white ceramic carafe as one our centerpieces of Scandinavian design at its peak,” the item’s product description reads. “Imagine the tall cliffs of the fjords to see what inspired the clean, sleek lines of the … carafe.”

The description is certainly apt, photos of the carafe reveal. The piece has an almost somber presence reminiscent of the sheer stone cliffs watching over the tranquil waters of Norway’s fjords.

The carafe has a square base that is larger than the square opening at the top of it, creating an angular effect with just enough motion to add subtle life to the monolithic piece.

A rounded spout juts out from the top of the carafe. A handle in the shape of a rounded trapezoid offers ample room for small and big hands to carry the carafe.

While many of the pieces in Aava’s kitchenware collection are on the small side, the pitcher is, in terms of height and volume, the biggest of all, and in this sense it certainly does serve as a flagship piece for the company’s new line of products.

It is this sense of unassuming style and monolithic appearance that make the carafe an excellent choice for an upscale tea or a morning breakfast on a breezy veranda.

“It’s never out of place with a casual gathering of friends for drinks and games, or a formal dinner for an important occasion,” the carafe’s description reads.

Aava’s roots are in Finnish cutlery, but over the past year the company has decided to add a number of serving sets and kitchen-related containers to their product line. According to the company’s website, each piece is another note in their melodic interpretation of Nordic design.

“Expertly crafted from Finnish stainless steel and other premium materials, Aava provides you with supremely high quality items that have been recognized as the finest available,” the company’s About Us page reads. “Each piece is crafted with beautiful lines and exquisite modern styling to make a subtle statement about excellent quality and sleek minimalist preference.”

The carafe is one of several liquid serving pieces released by the company in the past few weeks. Also new to the kitchenware group is a Mug and Plate Set and a Milk and Sugar Set, both of which pair well with the carafe for a simple breakfast or extravagant brunch.
