NFL Fan Comes Up With Solution - Fans Should Lockout The NFL

NFL fan comes up with a solution to the NFL lockout standoff between the owners and the players. The NFL fans should lockout the NFL if they don't settle.

The National Football League (NFL) and it's players are in the middle of a standoff. The National Football League has effectively "locked out" it's players and has said they are prepared to either completely forgo playing football this year. They have also made tentative plans to have a late start to the football season or even shorten it to as few as 8 games instead of the usual 16.

On the other side, the football players have taken the NFL to court trying to end the lockout and have been unsuccessful so far.

The football fans are stuck in the middle. Thus far, fans have felt a sense of "hopelessness" and "powerlessness" about the situation. They feel they can only sit back and wait to see what happens.

One fan, Stanley Bronstein, suggests it doesn't have to be that way. Through his website, OnlyWeThePeople.com (http://onlywethepeople.com), Bronstein has started an online movement designed to empower the fans.

Bronstein suggests that fans set a June 30, 2011 deadline for the NFL owners and NFL players to settle their dispute.

What happens if they don't settle by that date?

It's quite simple. The fans cancel the season.

NFL fans should gather together and say that if the lockout is not resolved by the end of June 2011, they will simply not watch any football during the 2011 season.

While some may see this as a controversial solution, it is certainly an empowering one.

As Bronstein says, "the fans are the source of the money. Without the fans, there is no money. Without the money, the owners and players can't win."

Whether or not this movement takes shape remains to be seen. Only time will tell.

What does Bronstein suggest as an alternative to football if the fans cancel the 2011 season? "Spend time with your families and friends."
