New Women's Arena Football League Set To Launch Its Inaugural Season May 2012

The Women's Arena Football League (WAFL)scheduled to begin play for the 2012 Season in May.

Are you thirsty for some football; if so, the Women's Arena Football League (WAFL), is ready to quench your thirst. The WAFL kicks off its new season of professional women's arena football league, May 2012, in Houston, Texas.

The WAFL is headquartered in Houston, Texas and is comprised of both an American and National league and is an 8-on-8 full contact sport. The teams for the American league include the Houston Lady Oilers and Miami Fire & Desire. The National league teams include the Kansas City Tease and St. Louis Steam. Targeted cities for expansion teams in 2013 include, Omaha, NE; Dallas, TX; Chicago, IL; New Orleans, LA among many others.

The WAFL will hold a press conference to introduce the league to fans and media on April 25th in Houston, Texas. Several of the team owners, coaches and players will be on hand as they unveil team colors, uniforms, schedules and more. There will also be a special "Meet and Greet" for fans interested in attending later that evening.

WAFL, CEO/President Ivan Tompkins says, "We are excited to be bringing another avenue of professional football to the Houston area." The team will play all of its home games at the George R. Brown Convention Center. "We have some amazing women athletes and are thrilled to be providing an avenue for them to showcase their talent," explains Tompson.
