New web advertising site 'bids' to counter economic gloom
Online, May 29, 2010 (Newswire.com) - New web advertising site 'bids' to counter economic gloom
A new type of web based advertising, www.Bid4Banners.com has been launched this week. The idea is a world first that cleverly combines web based advertising with an auction style bidding system to fix the advertising rate. The site invites would be advertisers to enter into an auction, with the top advertising slots going to the highest bidders. The site has been launched with a first bid of US$1 but the bid price is set to rise quickly as new bidders enter the auction and each new advertiser adds an extra US$1 to the bid price.
The site has been launched by 24 year old Will Jenkins from Cardiff, Wales who recently returned to the UK after living abroad for four years only to find the UK jobs market going from bad to worse.
'I had expected to be able to pick up a job quite easily', says Will, 'but with more public expenditure cuts on the way it's now not looking at all promising. Luckily I learned when I was living in China that doing nothing is never a good option, so I came up with this new type of web based advertising, BidforBanners.com, which hopefully will make me a bit of money as well as providing some good exposure for my advertisers.'
In a quirky new twist, as well as the advertisers' banners getting exposure on the main site, there will be real-time update tweets going out to followers of the Bid4Banners twitter page. Will Jenkins believes this is another first in internet advertising.
Early bidders can expect to find some of the lowest cost advertising opportunities anywhere on the web and Will Jenkins hopes this will provide a real boost to small businesses and new business start-ups. The bidding auction is designed to ensure that the price to new advertisers rises in line with the success of the Bid4Banners.com site and as Will points out, existing advertisers who have been pushed down the site's advertising ladder can always make a new bid whenever they want to regain top spot.
Will has also decided that Bid4Banners.com will raise funds for charity. He has decided to support "Save the Children" and 5% of every bid will be donated to this charity.
'It's been difficult trying to get work since I returned to the UK', says Will, 'and at times life hasn't been that easy. But I know for sure that there are a lot of young people with far more difficulties than I have ever experienced. Hopefully Bid4Banners.com can help raise some much needed cash for them as well.'
