New Mental Health News Radio Network Podcast 'Conversations with a Wounded Healer' Puts the Spotlight on People in the Caring Professions

Licensed clinical social worker, therapist, professor and CEO Sarah Buino brings her expertise to the topic of self-care for caregivers.

Sarah Buino, LCSW, RDDP, CADC, CDWF, hosts new the Mental Health News Radio Podcast Conversations with a Wounded Healer. The podcast’s core mission is to encourage listeners, especially those in the caring professions, to dive into their self-work. The message is that no one is alone in their experience of pain and struggle. Buino is also the founder of Head/Heart Therapy Inc. and an Adjunct Professor of Social Work at Loyola and Fordham Universities.

Conversations will interest anyone who is on their own journey towards recovery from trauma, mental health issues or addiction. It also speaks to anyone who is a caregiver — personally or professionally — anyone fascinated by why people think, behave and feel the way they do and who are interested in spirituality and how it impacts our everyday existence.

Buino, whose unique blend of vulnerability and professionalism garnered her attention on previous appearances as a podcast guest, says, “I think my clients are often surprised when I admit I don't have my stuff together. And that's what I hope to convey with the podcast — even those who become helpers and healers are, at times, on our own struggle alongside our clients. Also that most of us — if we're honest about our deepest motivations — go into this profession because of pain and wounds that happened earlier in life, and becoming a therapist is often an attempt to gain some sort of control over our past or to 'fix' the wounds. But we inevitably find it's not quite that simple. We have to continue the healing journey long after we get our degrees. We never 'arrive,' we just keep doing the work.”

Conversations with a Wounded Healer, hosted by Sarah Buino, LCSW, RDDP, CADC, CDWF, airs every Wednesday and is available via Mental Health News Radio Network and all other podcast networks.
