New 'Look Local First' Campaign in Support of Small Businesses
DES MOINES, Iowa, November 8, 2019 (Newswire.com) - 2019 has flown by, and as the holiday season nears, there is one thing at the top of everybody's to-do list: holiday shopping. Finding special, one-of-a-kind gifts can be challenging this time of year, especially in a world taken over by big-box retailers all selling the same mass-produced products.
According to Amy Hayes, Marketing Director at VizyPay, convenience can be great … sometimes. “We live in a busy world, especially around the holidays. It’s so easy to order online for free two-day shipping, but remember, there's still ‘no place like home."
“People quickly forget how important small businesses are to our communities. Not only for products and services but the culture and individuality they bring are what make communities unique,” said Austin Mac Nab, Managing Partner at VizyPay. “Small business owners are the definition of the American Dream.”
VizyPay has launched “Look Local First” nationally, with a focus on Iowa, in support of small businesses.
“With Black Friday and the holidays around the corner, we want to remind people across the country that you aren’t putting money back into your community when you choose convenience during the holidays,” Hayes said, adding that when a customer spends $100 at a small business, $68 stays in the community compared to only $43 when shopping at a corporate chain, according to the Andersonville Study of Retail Economics.
According to Mac Nab, the campaign was started to highlight small business owners because they are the backbone of the communities. VizyPay is spreading the message through a Look Local First sticker for business’ windows, as well as with apparel. They hope that by getting this message in front of as many people as possible before holiday shopping gears up, it will remind the community that the extra effort to shop local is worth it. VizyPay is encouraging everybody to support their communities by joining the Look Local First movement with a window sticker or apparel and especially by shopping locally.
“These are the individuals willing to start a business knowing the odds were against them,” he said. “They are the individuals who sacrifice countless hours from their families – the first to open their doors in the morning and the last to leave at night.”
“Small business owners deserve a voice,” Hayes said. “VizyPay and our campaign “Look Local First” can accomplish that by bringing attention to what's important in our communities, just in time for the holidays. Small business owners deserve our support!”
