New Direction Events, Inc. Dispenses Back-to-School Advice

College students around the country have returned to classes. For some, this might be their first year. Others are getting ready to enter the real world soon. The New Direction Events, Inc. team offers career advice for all.

“College is a time of exploration,” explained Jennifer M., New Direction Events, Inc.’s president. “You’re discovering where you want life’s path to take you. You’re setting the stage for a career.”

Jennifer imparted some words of wisdom for undergraduates at all levels. “First and foremost, identify what ignites your passions,” she said. “Consider something you can spend hours doing and never realize the time has passed. That endeavor may be your calling.”

As far as applying those passions to a discipline, Jennifer suggested research is important. “Not every hobby or interest is something you can develop into a full-time career,” she added. “However, there are some avenues attached to any interest that you can explore. For example, if you like sports, determine what it is about that field that interests you. If it’s the physical aspect, perhaps you might find a career in sports medicine or physical education rewarding. If it’s the thrill of winning, there are so many other fields in which you can thrive if you have a competitive nature and a team-oriented attitude. Many of our New Direction Events, Inc. team members are sports-minded and enjoy putting their winning strategies to the test on a regular basis.”

“There’s a world of opportunities that await graduates,” Jennifer suggested. “The path you aspired to embark when you entered the university might not be the one you follow at graduation, and that’s okay. Do your research and carefully consider the wealth of career choices before you.”

New Direction Events, Inc.s President Discusses Career-Track Positions

As Jennifer alluded, it is essential to identify an intended career path before searching for employment. “One of the commonalities in today’s job market is that companies tend to hire for positions,” she noted. “A career track isn’t something most business leaders offer. Therefore, you’re left to forge your own path.”

“My advice is two-fold,” she shared. “First, when you’re interviewing, ask specific questions that will allow you to gain a sense of the path you could take from the position. Ask about where the particular role could lead in the company. If the interviewer can’t pinpoint any direct path, the next thing you have to consider is whether this role will provide you with experience that can be applied to future moves, inside or outside the firm.”

Jennifer conveyed that New Direction Events, Inc. has a progressive advancement policy. “We invest a lot in training new associates,” she said. “We believe in hiring people who will grow with us. We certainly don’t want the expertise we’ve cultivated to go out the door, so that someone else can benefit from our knowledge.”

“Your career isn’t something that begins after college,” Jennifer concluded. “You must consider the options during your university years, while you can attain the necessary knowledge. Let your passion guide your path.”
