The National Terrazzo and Mosaic Association annually conducts an awards program to honor member contractors for executing exceptional terrazzo work. Terrazzo installations completed this year by a member contractor will be eligible for the 2011 Honor Awards competition. Entries will be judged in January and winning installations will be announced at the NTMA convention in April.

Fourteen exceptional jobs will be chosen out of the entries received and one will be named Job of the Year. Photos and information of all Honor Award winners will be placed on the NTMA website.

The judging process is nonbiased and conducted by a panel of terrazzo experts and architects who are not made aware of the contractor or location of each job they are evaluating. Intricacy of design, scope of work, and excellence in craftsmanship are all important to the judges.

Entries may be submitted by member contractors, owners, architects or designers. Twenty or fewer good quality photos, a completed job information form, and a $300 entry fee are required. Photos should include both overall room shots and close-ups of cove detail, divider strips and aggregates.

The entry deadline is January 7, 2011. Call 800-323-9736 or email info@ntma.com to request a submittal packet. The forms and information are also available by visiting the new NTMA website at www.ntma.com.

The NTMA began the Honor Awards program in 1993, and has honored remarkable floors in museums, airports, educational, government, and healthcare facilities and retail establishments. In 2010, Job of the Year went to Crystals Mall at CityCenter Las Vegas, Nevada.
