The Batchelor and Hearst Foundations have joined the “We Are Jackson Health” fundraising initiative and announced individual donations of $1 million each in emergency funding to the Jackson Health Foundation, the fundraising arm for Jackson Health System, to support front-line workers fighting COVID-19.

“We are thrilled to have two nationally recognized foundations supporting our “We Are Jackson Health” fundraising initiative to help our healthcare heroes at Jackson Health System combat COVID-19,” said Flavia Llizo, executive vice president and chief development officer at Jackson Health Foundation. “We encourage others to step up and help Jackson Health System save lives.”

The Hearst Foundations are granting over $50 million in emergency funding to more than 100 U.S. medical, humanitarian and cultural organizations severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"At a time when health care institutions around the world are reeling from the clinical and financial impacts of COVID-19, The Hearst Foundations have stepped in with bold and rapid action," said Jackson Health System President & CEO Carlos A. Migoya. "The safety of our patients and caregivers depends upon this kind of incredible generosity, and our community will forever be grateful."

The Batchelor family have been long-time supporters of Jackson Health Foundation and over the years have provided much-needed funds for programs and initiatives to help patients at Holtz Children’s Hospital and in support of  Jackson's academic partnership with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

"Few families have supported Jackson as long or as well as the Batchelors," said Migoya. "They've been a foundational part of our growth, and now they're serving as a critical part of our life-support plan during the COVID-19 epidemic. Our patients and caregivers will be forever grateful."
