MVP Chicago Builds Morale by Supporting City Year Chicago

MVP Chicago’s CEO discussed the firm’s recent donation to City Year Chicago and how the organization makes a positive impact on area schools. He also outlined the team-building benefits of giving to good causes.

Giving back to the community is a regular occurrence for Team MVP Chicago. Paul, the firm’s CEO, explained, “There are so many nonprofits doing good work in the Chicago area. We’re proud to support them however we can, both through financial donations and volunteering our time.” Paul and his team members recently donated to City Year Chicago, a cause with special significance for the CEO.

There's a uniquely rewarding feeling that comes along with giving to a worthy cause."

Paul, CEO

The City Year organization deploys skilled AmeriCorps volunteers to help students in at-risk communities across the country. In Chicago alone, the nonprofit mentors young people in more than 20 schools. City Year volunteers also assist teachers in the classroom and lead after-school programs to enhance students’ chances of success. AmeriCorps members aiding City Year’s mission are younger than teachers, but slightly older than students. This allows them to build stronger bonds with adolescents and influence them in positive ways.

Paul was a teacher at a school in inner-city Chicago before becoming an entrepreneur. His experience makes City Year’s efforts even more inspiring. He remarked, “They go into underfunded and underperforming schools to help the teachers. I had a City Year representative working with me in my last school on the south side of Chicago and she was great. These volunteers help kids in bad situations out of the kindness of their hearts, so I’m glad MVP Chicago can assist them in some small way.”

Giving back as a team also reflects the MVP Chicago commitment to goal setting. The CEO remarked, “We’re serious about challenging ourselves to go beyond our current skill sets. A big part of broadening our horizons is finding innovative methods for giving back to the community. Just as we set the bar progressively higher for our team performance, we also look for the best options to impact our area in a positive way.
