However, when a system that is fragmented, traumatized itself and chaotic attempts to provide services to others, the outcome is often fragmented, traumatized and chaotic.
We have just witnessed the harsh reality, the truth of the above statement, yet again. I share this recent adoption travesty with all, it is so painful. Mostly for this little boy.
A fragmented system simply can not help a fragmented system.
As a macrosystem (child welfare and mental health), we are in pain and we are in trouble; so when the microsystem (family)comes calling for help, we find it impossible at times to reply in any effective manner. We are so fragmented ourselves...a fragmented mother put her fragmented son on a plane back to yet another fragmented system....and the cycle goes on.....fragmented again~.
I have researched, written and consulted for years about the adoption and foster care system as a whole and offer a solution focused perspective to this huge problem we face.
Indeed this gives rise to our cause and indicates the deeper need of healing for all; including this adoptive mother who acted in ways seen as despicable by some, understandable by some, and applauded by others.....
