Molina Healthcare of California Employees Volunteer to Assemble 3,000 Bags to Help the Homeless Population in Los Angeles
The Effort is in Partnership with HomeAid Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, July 25, 2019 (Newswire.com) - According to a recent report from Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, the number of homeless people increased by 12 percent over last year, putting the number of those experiencing homelessness in L.A. County at approximately 58,936.
To address this public health crisis, local government-sponsored health care company, Molina Healthcare is teaming up with HomeAid Los Angeles. The Company will set up an assembly line at its corporate offices in Long Beach and approximately 20 employee volunteers will organize and assemble 3,000 bags filled with personal hygiene products. The filled bags will then be given to HomeAid LA to provide directly to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the Greater Los Angeles area.
This initiative is through the company’s employee volunteer program, Helping Hands. Through this program, Molina employees receive paid volunteer time off (VTO) to motivate and empower employees to give back directly to the populations the Company serves.
HomeAid Los Angeles is a Los Angeles-based chapter of HomeAid America, a nonprofit organization that helps build new lives for individuals and families experiencing homelessness through housing and community outreach.
The event is NOT open to the public, but media is welcome to attend.
