International parental child abductions are heartbreaking. May 25 is a good time to remember and help the victims - the missing children.
One abducted Canadian child is Takaya, who has been held kidnapped and in hiding in Japan for over two years. The Japanese government has so far failed to comply with the Hague Abduction Convention, and has refused to return or provide any access to the child whatsoever. Likewise, Japanese police has failed to act on an Interpol Red Notice, issued for the arrest of the child abductor who is facing a ten year prison sentence. Despite intensive efforts, including ongoing police and Canadian government involvement, there is still no relief for this four year old boy.
