MedBridge, the industry-leading online education and patient engagement solution that enables healthcare organizations to improve outcomes and optimize care delivery, announced their new Skills and Competency Manager, which allows healthcare organizations to get clinicians in the field faster while providing improved quality of care.

"With staff shortages and high attrition rates rising across the country, many home-based care agencies are challenged to onboard and retain enough qualified nurses to meet clinical capacity and serve their patient population," said Justin Kowalchuk, Founder and CEO of MedBridge. "Traditional skills training programs are weeks long and involve substantial in-person hours—the MedBridge Skills and Competency Manager is the first product of its kind to combine an all-digital skills checklist, clinical skills library, and reporting and analytics dashboard that has already proven effective at reducing onboarding time by up to seven days."

The MedBridge Skills and Competency Manager helps healthcare agencies streamline the onboarding and preceptor process, train new nurses on clinical and non-clinical home skills so they can start providing patient care faster, and document and report on training and skill competency, all on a single online platform. The digital solution includes three elements—the Skills Checklist, a customizable self-assessment that identifies gaps in skills crucial for each individual organization's employees; a Skills Training Library of evidence-based courses designed for information retention and on-the-go viewing; and a Skills and Competency Dashboard for monitoring data-driven insights, tracking, and reporting.

MedBridge's Skills and Competency Manager has already been used to onboard nurses more efficiently at a lower cost. During a pilot program with Interim Healthcare of the Upstate, the home health care provider was able to serve more patients in their community by leveraging the platform to reduce the time needed to onboard new nursing staff in both home health and hospice settings by seven days. This resulted in an 11.5 percent home health nurse onboarding cost reduction and a 17.9 percent hospice nurse onboarding cost reduction, with 100 percent of participants surveyed reporting that the quality of education they received during their onboarding was good or excellent.
