MED-Q Improves The Automatic Pill Dispenser Technology
MED-Q has surveyed Hundreds of nurses to design superior Automatic Pill Dispensers to help keep Senior Citiizens at home and out of assisted living facilities.
Online, September 16, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The World Health Organization's research shows that up to 90% of seniors regularly forget to take their medication or make other errors with medication managment. The problem is so large that the Wall Street Journal labels medication non-compliance as "America's other drug Problem".
MED-Q Pill Box used research and technology to address this problem. Hundreds of nurses were interviewd to discover the specific problems seniors have in taking their medication properly. Simple as it was, the biggest problem was simply "forgetting". The second biggest problem was taking the wrong medications at the wrong time.
The MED-Q pillbox offers an innovative solution to the two big problems. The foregtting problem has been addressed with an escalating alarm that continues to get louder until the pills are taken and the next alert has been activated. The alarm becomes loud enough to be heard through out the house so forgetting becomes impossible. The second alarm is a Bright flashing LED that lights up ONLY the indivdual compartment of pills that needs to be taken at the exact time. This means the wrong compartment of pills is not taken. This combination of alarms kmakes forgetting or taking the wron pills virtually impossible
Lee DeMar, Regional Manger say, "We could not have designed this pill dispensers with out the imput of the RN's & LPN's. Their level of commitment and concern for patients is over-whelming"
