Mechanical Wizards Make Pumpkins Fly For A Good Cause At Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa

More than $9,000 raised for the Lamoille Family Center in Morrisville, VT

Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa kicked off fall and raised money for a great cause with flying pumpkins, hosting 1,500 people at the 5th Annual Vermont Pumpkin Chuckin' Festival on Sunday, September 29, 2013. The festival brought together Do-It-Yourself mechanical wizards of all ages attempting to launch pumpkins as far as possible with trebuchets, which are medieval siege engines. Held on Stoweflake's Event Field, guests had easy access to the event and front-seat viewing for those watching from the Townhouses beside the field.

Angry Pumpkins, from Conn., won two awards: Best Design and the Middleweight Open Division, throwing farthest for their height. They threw the pumpkin 349 feet. The Chili Cook-Off Competition was won by Deb Papineau, from Deb's Place in Morrisville, VT.
The festival began in 2009 to benefit the Lamoille Family Center in Morrisville, VT. This year they raised more than $9000 for the center. Stoweflake plans to host the event again next year. For more information on the winners please check out http://vtpumpkinchuckin.blogspot.com/
