MDM Trio of Drivers Set for K&N Pro Series East Finale at Dover
Dover, DE, October 3, 2018 (Newswire.com) - MDM Motorsports will send two current NASCAR K&N Pro Series East rookies and the defending series champion to compete in their Toyotas for this weekend’s series season finale at Dover International Raceway in Dover, Delaware.
The Crosley Brands 125 is scheduled for a 5 pm Eastern time Friday afternoon start at “The Monster Mile”, and MDM drivers Anthony Alfredo, Sam Mayer and 2017 champion Harrison Burton are all looking forward to the opportunity to end their season with a checkered flag and a highly-coveted “monster” trophy.
Alfredo will be seeking his second win of the year in the Ceco Building Systems, Oxford Energy, JDRF Toyota No. 40. He won his first race back in the spring at South Boston Speedway in Virginia. He will make his first start at Dover this weekend.
“It’s hard to believe this is the last K&N race of the year,” the personable young racer said. “I feel like we’ve made gains all year. It’s been a learning year for sure. We won a race, and we feel like we had good speed at most all the tracks. I cannot say thank you enough to everyone at MDM Motorsports for all their hard work and faith in me this year. I’ve really enjoyed every step of the process. MDM has been very strong at Dover in the past, so we should have a great shot to go out and win a Monster on Friday!
Mayer will be behind the wheel of the Menards No. 41 Toyota. The 15-year-old Midwest second-generation will be doing double duty this weekend, competing on Friday at Dover and then racing at Lucas Oil Raceway Park on Saturday in the ARCA Series race, also driving for MDM Motorsports in that event.
“It’s been a fun season with MDM Motorsports,” Mayer smiled. “We’ve had some really strong runs, like our fifth-place finish at Watkins Glen, and I feel like I’ve had so many learning moments in the short amount of time I’ve raced for them. We’re excited to be running both the K&N and ARCA races this weekend. It’s going to be fun! I’m ready to get to Dover and get it all started.”
Burton returns to the K&N Pro Series East lineup to defend his win from 2017 at Dover. He’ll pilot the Ruud, Dex Images, Mobile 1 No. 12 Toyota this weekend and should be right in the thick of things once again.
“I don’t think it’s a secret that this is one of my favorite racetracks on the schedule,” the second-generation driver laughed. “I want to get another monster trophy so badly. No matter how you’ve performed all year, Dover can bite you in a heartbeat, so you have to be focused and mistake-free if you want to win there. MDM is always fast there so I am excited to get there and see what we can do!”
