Mattie Templeton will be celebrating her 100th birthday on May 3rd at Hogan Park Nursing & Rehabilitation, where she is currently living.

Templeton was born on May 3, 1917. She has resided at the facility since October of 2005. She is the daughter of Deratt and Lily Brookins and has four brothers, all of whom have passed away. Templeton was married in Alabama in 1944. She and her husband never had children. She was a hotel worker.

"She is always smiling and is kind to everyone she meets. She is a pleasure to be around, and I'm so glad we get to celebrate her this week."

Shunta Taylor, Activity Director

In Templeton’s spare time, she enjoys playing bingo and balloon volleyball with her friends at the facility. She has a love for Christ and regularly attends church services that come to the facility.

Shunta Taylor, Activity Director at the facility, said Templeton is loved and adored by both the staff and fellow residents there. “Miss Templeton is the sweetest lady,” Taylor said. “She is always smiling and is kind to everyone she meets. She is a pleasure to be around, and I’m so glad we get to celebrate her this week.”
