Marks, Finch, Thornton & Baird, LLP Participates In Food From The Bar, Feeding America

Food from the Bar rallied seventeen law firms throughout San Diego County to participate in this year's competition sponsored by Feeding America.

Marks, Finch, Thornton & Baird, LLP, was recently involved in its first competition with the Food from the Bar contest sponsored by Feeding America. Feeding America is a nationally acclaimed foundation that has provided emergency food assistance to an estimated 37 million low-income families. This competition alone was able to secure over 170,000 meals to children facing hunger in San Diego this summer.

Food from the Bar rallied seventeen law firms throughout San Diego County to participate in this year's competition. There were three ways you could collect points: money donation, food donation, or volunteering. The firm was part of the Pineapple league, paired with other same sized firms. "We are proud to say that we took first place in our league with a resounding 20,775 points. We were second out of seventeen overall in the competition. We brought in over 4,067 pounds of food and volunteered over 80 hours, not bad for our first year," said Linda Quindt, the Firm Administrator. The firm's events committee created an internal competition to promote more participation and a spirit of rivalry against one another. The committee strived to have each food donation be the best in quality and have a good nutritional facet. The participants stock piled from grocery stores such as Vons, Food for Less, and Costco. Attorneys and staff members brought their families and friends to help volunteer and were generous in their monetary donations as well. "We are proud to be a part of this fundraiser and we look forward to next year's competition," said Quindt.
