Lux Associates Enjoys Conference Training and Networking

The Lux Associates team recently attended an industry conference, where they learned about the latest trends and practices in sales and marketing. Associates also took advantage of the plentiful networking opportunities at the event.

“It feels good to be settled back into the Lux Associates office after such an exciting function,” said Natalie, the firm’s Director of Operations. “We had an amazing time, and we’ve already implemented some of the valuable lessons we took away from the experience. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen my people so focused and energized!”

Natalie explained that ongoing professional development is a high priority at Lux Associates. Team members grow and advance in a variety of ways, and participation in conferences and training classes is certainly among them. At the most recent event, for instance, associates attended workshops and lectures on topics ranging from leadership and management to market trends and customer service. They are now equipped with all the latest best practices.

“We’re still perusing the materials we’ve brought back to the office,” Natalie stated. “My colleagues and I are meeting to determine how we will implement these insights into our internal training, strategic planning, and daily operations. Of course, we’re also sharing it with those who remained on the home front while we were away!”

“In addition to the learning, the industry function was full of networking potential,” Natalie continued. “Relationship building is a skill I make sure my people hone on a regular basis. I firmly believe it is impossible to achieve substantial success alone. After all, businesses don’t make decisions. People do. They engage with professionals they like and trust. I’m constantly reinforcing this message at Lux Associates, and I’m happy to share my favorite networking tips with them before every big event.”

According to Natalie, reciprocity is a central component of networking. She reminds her professionals to think about ways they can help their new connections, instead of merely focusing on what others have to offer. By offering assistance, ideas, information, and expertise, team members put themselves in better positions to be helped in the future.

“I’ve discovered that active listening is often neglected in the business world,” stated Natalie. “I think it’s a tragic fact, because it’s so important. When my colleagues and I attend professional events, we express genuine interest in what others have to share. We ask open-ended questions, and do only a minimum amount of talking. Even though we don’t say much, people are likely to remember us favorably because we gave them the spotlight. It paves the way for a lasting, mutually beneficial connection.”
