PLANO, Texas, July 13, 2022 (Newswire.com) - Lightbulb Cardiac, LLC is pleased to introduce its new Chief Medical Officer: Dr. David Edwards. With his background in Electrophysiology (EP), cardiac care, research, and business management, Dr. Edwards brings his diverse experience to Lightbulb Cardiac, a premier EP training, staffing, and consulting firm.
With 20 years' experience in medicine, Dr. Edwards holds a Ph.D. in Genetics and Development and an M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. After earning his degrees, he completed two Fellowships at Johns Hopkins University — Cardiology and Electrophysiology.
Dr. Edwards also founded Hybrigen, Inc., a private biotechnology company that identified druggable targets using an innovative robotics-based platform. As Chief Scientist and CEO, Dr. Edwards concentrated on research, but also successfully secured the initial seven-figure funding. Hybrigen then partnered with pharmaceutical companies in the U.S., Australia, and the EU to develop those partners' proprietary drug targets. He guided Hybrigen toward early industry recognition and obtained U.S. patents in the field of vivo proteomics.

Dr. Edwards is a Clinical Electrophysiologist for Advanced Heart Care in Dallas. In 2013, he became the Director of the Electrophysiology Lab at CHRISTUS Hospital in Sulfur Springs, Texas, where he is responsible for clinical care and program development. Having a proven track record of finding and leading multidisciplinary teams, Dr. Edwards is also certified by the ABIM in three areas: Electrophysiology, Cardiovascular Disease, and Internal Medicine.
