Libertarian Included In Michigan Secretary Of State Candidate Forum
Grand Rapids , MI, October 20, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Libertarian candidate, Jamie Lewis, will be among the candidates participating in the 2014 Michigan Secretary of State candidate forum. The forum is sponsored by Common Cause – Michigan, Grand Valley State University Student Senate, the Michigan Election Coalition, the League of Women Voters, and Engage Michigan.
The event will be on Wednesday, October 22 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Eberhard Center (301 W Fulton St, Grand Rapids, MI 49504) on Grand Valley State University’s Downtown Grand Rapids Campus.
Sharon Dolente – Director of the Michigan Election Coalition and Madelaine Cleghorn – Vice President of External Relations for the Grand Valley State University Student Senate will be moderating the forum. While the forum is open to all balloted candidates, James Lewis of the Libertarian Party and Godfrey Dillard of the Democratic Party are the only confirmed participants.
Candidates will have 5 minutes to introduce themselves and their priorities on why they are running for Secretary of State. After which, the candidates will take questions from audience members. Moderators will only ask questions that are appropriate for this nonpartisan candidate event and relevant to the Secretary of State’s roles and responsibilities. Each candidate will have a minute and a half to respond to each question. At the conclusion of questions, candidates will have 2 minutes for a closing statement.
Jamie Lewis was nominated to be the Libertarian candidate for Secretary of State at the Libertarian Party of Michigan state convention that was held on May 17 2014 in Howell Michigan. Lewis was also the Libertarian candidate for District 28 of the Michigan State Senate in 2010.
