LEMONCAT: Additional Investment of Millions, Six Months Post Launch

The biggest catering marketplace in Germany closes its second round of financing

​​​​​Just six months post launch, online marketplace for business catering, LEMONCAT, has closed its second financing round to secure 6 million Euros, taking its total capital to 9 million Euros. In addition to previous investors, the international VC fund Northzone has taken part in this new round of financing. The fund is an early investor in companies like Spotify, Wallapop, Outfittery and Lesara. According to Northzone, they invest exclusively in companies with disruptive business models.

With this fresh injection of funds, investors have further strengthened LEMONCAT’s position as the leading German catering portal. The fast-growing Berlin start-up specializes in catering for companies and offers a selection of more than 400 caterers in over 80 cities. Just as important for business customers making bookings via www.lemoncat.de, for 10-person meetings through to 2,000-strong summer parties, is that the price is guaranteed to be the same as if booked directly via the caterer – otherwise the difference will be reimbursed. LEMONCAT also only works with caterers that fulfill the highest quality standards, from how professional their equipment is, to punctuality, to a broad range of high quality dishes.

Business catering is a market worth billions in Germany. Currently 7 billion Euros is spent each year on food and drinks at conferences, workshops or client meetings. “The market is there, and the question isn’t if it will be digitized – it’s when.
