Lehigh Valley Health Network Inpatient Pharmacy Services Select Simplifi 797 for USP 797 Compliance

Automates, integrates and streamlines quality activities and documentation related to U.S. Pharmacopeia's Chapter 797 guidelines

Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that the Inpatient Pharmacy Services at all three network campuses of Lehigh Valley Health Network have selected its Simplifi 797 software for achieving sterile compounding compliance.

Simplifi 797 is a web-based application that automates, integrates and streamlines quality activities and documentation related to U.S. Pharmacopeia's Chapter 797 guidelines. The software manages task scheduling for environmental monitoring and automates the reporting of exceptions and compliance.

"Simplifi 797 has become our one-stop shop for our IV room documentation. We have eliminated multiple paper logs located in various areas of the pharmacy. All our staff competencies are recorded in the system which allows us to keep track of annual due dates for each employee," said AnnMarie Higgins, Director of Pharmacy at Lehigh Valley Health Network at Cedar Crest and 17th Street. "In addition, we are able to change, add, or delete manufacturing recipes within a moment's notice. This has become especially helpful during this difficult time with various drug shortages."

Simplifi 797 can help simplify meeting all of the requirements of the USP 797 best practice guidelines for compounding sites throughout the facility. It provides auto-notification by email of overdue tasks, exceptions, and out of range measurements. It also now includes access to CriticalPoint's education program, which gives users unlimited access to 42 hours of ACPE-approved continuing education credits supporting compliance with USP Chapter 797.

"Simplifi 797 is a tool that takes the guesswork out of the compliance in our IV room operations. We were able to design online checklists that are easy for our staff to use and puts me at ease because I can see that all tasks are being completed by looking at one website," said Andrew Trella, Director of Pharmacy at Lehigh Valley Health Network- Muhlenberg Campus. "We recently had our recertification survey from the Joint Commission and I was very confident knowing that all our checklists and compounding logs were available online in one spot. It certainly eliminates any uncertainty as to whether or not tasks have been accomplished."
