Latens CAS Release 5 Wins TelcoTV 2010 Vision Awards
Online, November 12, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Latens (www.latens.com), the leading provider of software security solutions for Pay-TV across all networks are pleased to report that Latens CAS Release 5 has won in the category of Innovation in Conditional Access at the TelcoTV 2010 Vision Awards. This is the first time that Latens have won at the TelcoTV Vision Awards which honor the most innovative and "visionary" new products, services and applications announced in the telecommunications industry in the past year.
"This year's TelcoTV Vision Award winners clearly delivered products and services that enable profitability in a multi-screen world," said Joe Braue, Senior Vice President and Group Director for Light Reading, which produces the TelcoTV conference and exhibition. "Our judging panel was comprised of an elite team of service providers, journalists, and analysts. They developed a short list of the best carrier video products and services for 2010 that operators should carefully evaluate in the coming year."
Latens were up against various vendors in the category of Innovation in Conditional Access and won for their Latens CAS Release 5 which was released earlier this year and is currently deployed to Cable and IP customers around the world. The prestigious TelcoTV Vision Award adds to our Queen's Award earlier this year.
Latens CAS Release 5 is the latest version of Latens' software only CAS for Cable, DTH, DTT, IPTV and Hybrid networks. The solution allows content to be securely delivered across all broadband and broadcast platforms from a single headend to one way, two way DVB and/or IP networks. Latens CAS dynamically detects how Set Top Boxes (STBs) are connected to the CAS and automatically allocates the entitlements/permissions to it. This means that when an operator wishes to expand to other network types, or from one way to return path, they will not have to invest in a new CAS system.
Latens software CAS Release 5 allows Telcos to have a unified rights management system across IPTV and Cable all from one headend. This enables Telcos to run the federated model of having various operators managed from one system thereby reducing costs. It also allows the operator to protect OTT services across multiple devices providing a future proofed content and revenue protection solution as well as lowering management costs through built in automated network client and security monitoring.
The 2010 TelcoTV Vision Awards winners were announced before an audience of service providers, analysts, and technology and business press at TelcoTV on Wednesday, November 10, at 12:30 p.m. in room Titian 2304 at the Venetian in Las Vegas. The ceremony was preceded by a follow-up study presentation on Pay-TV services by Adi Kishore, Senior Analyst at Heavy Reading.
