LANXESS Participates In The Official Opening Of 'Germany And India 2011 -2012: Infinite Opportunities'

Online, June 2, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Global specialty chemicals group LANXESS has participated in the official celebrations of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between India and Germany. The ceremonial opening was marked with a musical concert in the evening, given by the Young Euro Classic Orchestra. It featured some of the most talented young musicians from Folkwang University of the Arts, Germany and the India Youth Orchestra performing classical music from both countries. The renowned Indian conductor Vijay Upadhyaya led the orchestra that consisted of 53 musicians. As a part of its responsibility as a corporate citizen of both nations, LANXESS is the sponsor for this orchestra. The company has pursued the cause of intercultural exchange through different programs with the Young Euro Classic Orchestra in China.

The event, hosted by the German Embassy in India, took place in Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi in the presence of Meira Kumar, Speaker of Lok Sabha, and German chancellor Angela Merkel who led the German delegation that included Axel C. Heitmann.
Following this opening, a collaborative celebration titled 'Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities' will be held in India from September 2011 to November 2012. During that time, LANXESS will showcase its products for urbanization in India at an interactive pavilion in Mumbai and Delhi.

LANXESS operates the manufacturing plants for rubber chemicals and ion exchange resins in Jhagadia and for advanced industrial intermediates in Nagda. A compounding facility for semi crystalline polymers is under construction in Jhagadia, which is scheduled to go on stream in January 2012. Additionally, the assets of the production facilities for Material protection products and Rhein Chemie (polymer-based rubber chemicals and additives) will be relocated to the facility in Jhagadia.
All thirteen business units of LANXESS are represented in India.
To provide its Indian sites with energy in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner, LANXESS operates two cogeneration plants for the generation of steam and electricity that are fuelled by biomass and natural gas (clean fuel) in Nagda and Jhagadia respectively.
