 LANXESS sponsors the musical concert by Young Euro Classic  High powered delegation with German chancellor Angela Merkel including CEO Axel C. Heitmann  The Speaker of Lok Sabha, Ms. Meira Kumar, takes part in the ceremony

Global specialty chemicals group LANXESS has participated in the official celebrations of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between India and Germany. The ceremonial opening was marked with a musical concert in the evening, given by the Young Euro Classic Orchestra. It featured some of the most talented young musicians from Folkwang University of the Arts, Germany and the India Youth Orchestra performing classical music from both countries. The renowned Indian conductor Vijay Upadhyaya led the orchestra that consisted of 53 musicians. As a part of its responsibility as a corporate citizen of both nations, LANXESS is the sponsor for this orchestra. The company has pursued the cause of intercultural exchange through different programs with the Young Euro Classic Orchestra in China.

"Shaping the future of Germany and India together, staying open to different cultural influences and drawing connections between them in a rapidly globalising world - these are the ideas that motivate Young Euro Classic and LANXESS", said CEO Axel C. Heitmann.

The event, hosted by the German Embassy in India, took place in Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi in the presence of Meira Kumar, Speaker of Lok Sabha, and German chancellor Angela Merkel who led the German delegation that included Axel C. Heitmann.

Following this opening, a collaborative celebration titled 'Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities' will be held in India from September 2011 to November 2012. During that time, LANXESS will showcase its products for urbanization in India at an interactive pavilion in Mumbai and Delhi.

For LANXESS, a company that is headquartered in Germany and has operations in India, this occasion is apt to re-iterate its commitment to India not only as a market but also as a manufacturing base for its world class products. In the light of the four global megatrends mobility, urbanization, water and agriculture to which the company pays tribute in its business, LANXESS recognizes the immense potential of the Indian chemical industry. In the past three years alone, the company has made investments of roughly EUR 150 million in assets in India, which includes both organic and inorganic growth.

"We are proud of the LANXESS growth story in India and we are optimistic about the potential for growth of the chemical industry in India", said Joerg Strassburger, Managing Director and Country Representative of LANXESS India.

LANXESS operates the manufacturing plants for rubber chemicals and ion exchange resins in Jhagadia and for advanced industrial intermediates in Nagda. Additionally, the assets of the production facilities for Material protection products and Rhein Chemie (polymer-based rubber chemicals and additives) will be relocated to the facility in Jhagadia.

All thirteen business units of LANXESS are represented in India.
