Lang Antique & Estate Jewelry Announces 'Lang Antiques Fine Arts Scholarship' Winner
SAN FRANCISCO, CA , September 14, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Lang Antique & Estate Jewelry congratulates Margaret Schlofner from Crystal Lake, IL on winning the Lang Antiques Fine Arts Scholarship. Margaret is currently a senior at DePaul University, with a major in Vocal Performance and a minor in German. At DePaul, she has performed such roles as Papagena in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Berenice in Rossini’s L’Occasione fa il ladro, Helena in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, and she is looking forward to singing the role of Belinda in a concert version of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas.
Lang Antique & Estate Jewelry offered a $1,000 scholarship for a creative submission to one student to assist with pursuing his or her education, demonstrating a passion for the fine arts. The scholarship opportunity was opened to both graduating high school seniors and any student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program by January 1, 2016, at any accredited U.S. college, university or institute.
"At Lang Antiques, we believe in the power of education."
Suzanne Martinez, Owner
Each applicant was required to submit an essay of 500 words or more which includes an example of how he or she was inspired by a work of art from the past and how this work of art influences his or her present day artistic style. They also had to describe the style or technique in today’s art world that they think might be popular in the future. The essay did not have to solely revolve around jewelry in particular – but could have been drawn from any of the fine arts including painting, sculpture, music, dance, among many other forms.
“At Lang Antiques, we believe in the power of education,” said Suzanne Martinez, owner of Lang Antique & Estate Jewelry. “We believe that scholarships have the ability to give students motivation to pursue their dreams with less worry about tuition and other school-related expenses.”
