La Residence Hue Selected to Join Signature Travel Network

Online, July 20, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Hue, Vietnam - La Residence Hotel and Spa in Hue became the fifth property from Vietnam to be elevated to the ranks of hotels affiliated with Signature Travel Network in June 2012, a member-owned cooperative of leading travel agencies and hotels with 375 office locations worldwide.

Nestled on the banks of the Perfume River with a view to Hue's Ancient Citadel, the 122-room La Residence Hotel was originally opened in 1930 as the home of the French colonial governor, and played host to numerous notables including King Bhumibol of Thailand and Bao Dai, the last emperor of Vietnam.

In the early 2000s, La Residence was meticulously restored as a five-star resort, home to fine-dining restaurant Le Parfum, Bar Le Gouverneur, an award-winning spa, saltwater swimming pool and art gallery.

In 2011, La Residence joined Accor's distinguished MGallery Collection within the portfolio's elite heritage category; and was named among Asia's top 20 resorts by voters in the Conde Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards 2011.

Aside from La Residence, Signature Travel Network's partners in Vietnam also include the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, the Nam Hai, the Park Hyatt and Six Senses Hideaway Ninh Van Bay. La Residence is the first non-Sofitel property within Accor's ranks globally to join the Signature Travel Network.

BOUT LA RESIDENCE

Set on a two-hectare site with 200 meters of frontage on the fabled Perfume River, La Residence celebrated its grand opening in December 2005 after a painstaking restoration of the former colonial governor's residence. The hotel's distinctive bowed façade, its long horizontal lines and nautical flourishes are hallmarks of the streamline modern school of art deco architecture.

The hotel's 122 rooms and suites, restaurants, lounges, bars and conference room are tricked out in complementary art-deco furnishings and decor that evoke both the 1920s and 1950s. The hotel's fine-dining venue, Le Parfum, serves Mediterranean and French cuisine, as well as dishes from a complementary Vietnamese menu.

The conference facilities, including board rooms, can accommodate 140 guests. The hotel provides complimentary WiFi Internet access in its rooms, the ground floor lounges and in Le Gouverneur itself.
